Lincoln Lake, CO – The FA of Wilkes Booth V9
August 10th, 2010So today we hiked down near the cliff and got on Powder Keg V7. This is an awesome boulder with great moves and a cool top-out. See the photos below.
After we warmed up we headed down to a problem Charley Van Anda and I found between “unshackled” and “small arms”. He got the FA and called it “Wilkes Booth”, we both suggested 7c. The easiest way to get to the boulder is: start hiking down from unshackled towards small arms(north), you will see on the hike down a huge boulder with a giant overhang to the left while walking, hike left of that huge boulder and you will find behind it a cave. The problem starts on an obvious left hand and next to it is a flat crimper for the right hand. Top-out on the slab with some side-pulls. Video of FA is coming up soon…
And here are some photos from Wilkes Booth
