Bouldering in MOAB-Utah 2013

It has been awhile since my last blog…

I’ve made couple of trips to different climbing ares in Utah in the past two months. Now becoming one of my favorite “tricky” areas to boulder is MOAB, Utah (Big Bend). The rock is so pretty and the surrounding tall cliffs make it even more perfect. We ended up climbing most of the easier climbs and had great time getting shut down by some tricky boulders. It was nice to have the time to relax, hike and climb in the area. Below are some photos from the trip that i took.

Colorado’s Alpine Bouldering Season

It has been a long time since I had updated my blog. The past month has been amazing for alpine bouldering in Colorado. John Gass and I have been hiking to Mount Evans since mid March and climbing at the Dali wall. Two weekends ago we had Paul Nadler, Alex Manikowski and Justin Jaeger joining us to the Dali wall as well. The next day we also visited Upper Chaos at Rocky Mountain National park. Most of the boulders were still under the snow. We were able to climb at Green 45 and Blood Money.

There will be ONE more video (part 3) left that will include areas such as “Area A” and “Lincoln Lake” located at Mount Evans.

Off The Books V11 & Recession Proof V9

Bouldering at Clear Creek Canyon during this time of the year is great. Yesterday John Gass, Alex Manikowski, Ben and I went back to a problem called “Off the Books” with the hopes of finishing it. On one of my goes I was able to get my left hand on the finish hold but my foot slipped as i was matching it and fell right at the end of the problem. It was desperate but I ended up finishing and matching the hold on my last go. Few days before this climb I was able to climb another great boulder called “Recession Proof”. This one is definitely one of the best v9/10s i have done in the front range of Colorado. The rock is excellent and i love climbing compression boulders so it fit me perfect. Enjoy!

Alpine Fever – The Bouldering Movie • Part One RMNP

Last year in 2011 John Gass and I had decided to start working on short movie series about the alpine bouldering in Colorado. We have managed to record huge amount of the climbing as well as some new first ascents that are to follow in the next few video parts that we are going to publish. You could expect bouldering problems starting at V0 and some much more difficult boulders up to V14. There will be climbing footage of areas such as “Area A” and “Lincoln Lake” both located in Mount Evans, CO.

Winter trip to Joe’s Valley

Couple of weeks ago Rob D’Anastasio and I made a trip to Joe’s Valley in Utah. We could only spend about 11 days there. The climbing during the first week was amazing, sunny days with mid 40’s and cold nights. We managed to climb and try bunch of good boulders. The weather got a bit worse after it snowed one night. There was barely any snow, maybe half of an inch, but the temps got to below 30 so the snow did not melt on the shady sides at all. The motivation to stay warm and climb hard was not as easy anymore so some of us were barely even climbing. During my stay I had some time to take video and photos of the trip. Check them out below!

Another weekend at Joe’s Valley. I really like this problem so I went back to climb it. I was hoping for a colder weekend but waking up and climbing at 8am was good enough to get some friction. Lactation Station V10 is located in Dairy Canyon on right fork. The rock is a bit different from the rest and these top-outs reminded me a bit of climbing down south. Can’t wait to go back there when its snowing and cold again.
